Associate Professor Dr. Haluk GEDİKOĞLU, a faculty member of the Department of Economics, participated as the National Project Consultant in the regional conference titled "Sustainability of Food Systems" held in Istanbul on March 7-8, 2023, within the framework of the "Regional Collaboration Center for Sustainable Food Systems in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization" project conducted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. During the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haluk GEDİKOĞLU delivered a presentation on the topic of "Sustainability of Food Systems in Turkey." The presentation evaluated the economic, environmental, and social sustainability of food systems in our country, with particular emphasis on environmental issues. Additionally, the presentation emphasized the development of multi-year agricultural support programs to contribute to sustainability. As part of the conference, a technical visit was organized to the Istanbul Closed Vertical Agriculture Research Center established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey.
